Kamen Rider Wizard, 14th Heisei Rider!

With only four episodes left for Kamen Rider Fourze, everyone is already hyped to see the next installment on the Kamen Rider Franchise, Kamen Rider Wizard!

As the name clearly suggests, Kamen Rider Wizard's theme would be all about "Magic". It will replace Kamen Rider Fourze on the Super Hero Time slot starting September 2, 2012.

Kamen Rider Wizard's Title Logo.

Here is a brief synopsis of what Kamen Rider Wizard will be all about:

"Kamen Rider Wizard fights enemies that are born on the day of a solar eclipse during an ancient ceremony. These enemies are called "Apparitions". Haruto and Koyomi survive the solar eclipse, Haruto disguises himself as Kamen Rider Wizard with the transformation tools given to him by a mysterious white magician. "

Souma Haruto, played by Shunya Shiraishi, is Kamen Rider Wizard!

Here are brief descriptions of the characters of this series with some of my comments and insights:

Souma Haruto / Kamen Rider Wizard (Shunya Shiraishi)
Souma Haruto hides his true self under a lighter, easily-amused persona. Ever since he started fighting demons, he stopped caring about his ordinary life and is now focusing on fighting for peace. He loves donuts more than anything.

(I'm quite amused that we will have another "Hiding one's true feelings to others" type of character again. We had Ryuusei for KR Fourze for example. I don't know about loving donuts, will that be ever relevant to the story anyway. I love that, according to the plot, he is directly involved with the series' kaijins. In a sense that, he was also there when the kaijins are being made. Further review on the KR Wizard suit design and some of his arsenals on my next post, specifically, my review of the first episode.)

Koyomi (Okunaka Makoto)
Koyomi is a strange but fragile girl with a mysterious past. She’s at the center of the mystery revolving around this series. An expert fortune teller, she supports others through her ability to tell the future. Due to her low blood pressure, she seems to always be low on energy. She is living together with Haruto on an antique shop.

(A mysterious Rider heroine, quite nice to hear. I mean, she is also involved with the event that brought the kaijins along with Haruto. Unlike previous series, Akiko (from W) got involved because her Dad is a KR and she lives with Kamen Riders but she isn't connected to Dopants; Hina (from OOO) got involved because her brother was possessed by Ankh-- that was her only purpose. One example of direct involvement to kaijins would be Yuuki, since she practically turned into a Horoscope--well her dark side actually but she also did it too. I hope her character would really be involved in the series, considering there are few cast members as off press time, the writers would be able to develop these characters more.)

Shunpei Nara (Junki Tozuka)
A young man who aspires to become a magician and find a great master. After meeting Haruto, he aspires to become his disciple. He tries his best to help Haruto, but he’s usually unable to help. Though he can be a bit of a trouble maker at times, he has a cheerful personality.

(So this is another Rider Series with apprenticeship involved. I can remember Hibiki having the same element as well. I'm quite excited what would his role in this series and how he meets Haruto and Koyumi.)

Daimon Riko (Yuko Takayama)
A rookie detective from the Metropolitan Police Department who becomes associated with those involved in demonic activities. She finds it strange that the police isn’t doing anything against the demons, so she tries to help Haruto with whatever she can.

(Nice! Police involvement! It would be really strange if the police wouldn't be doing anything about kaijins though. It helps that she is a rookie detective which means she isn't that experienced with detective work and might developed more when he meets Haruto and the others. Did you know that her actress, Yuko Takayama, was the tennis-playing-granddaughter-Imagin-contract holder in Chou Den-O Trilogy: Blue?)

Shigeru Wajima (Hisahiro Ogura)
He is the creator of the magic rings Haruto uses to become Wizard. He created the rings by infusing the magic inside jewels into rings. Though Wajima created the rings, he doesn't know what magic each ring holds. The rings have to be used in order to know what magic it holds. Wajima becomes the caretaker for Haruto and Koyomi who have been living together. Haruto helps him by testing out the different rings. His antique shop will be the "hang-out" place in this series.

(Cool! The creator of the henshin items of Kamen Rider Wizard. It's nice to see that we get to see the creator of the henshin items first-hand. In W, the W Gaia Memories' creator were not shown at the start of the show. In OOO, the alchemists that created the Core Medals weren't shown until the latter part of the series. In Fourze, Rokuro's face and actor was shown in the mid-part of the series with Kengo tuning Astro Switches to slow-down the pace--It's kinda not exciting if they showed that all of the switches were retuned at the very start of Fourze. However, I'm wondering what his connections with the kaijins would be. The antique shop totally goes with the show's theme in my opinion.)

(From L-R) Daimon Riko, Shunpei Nara, Souma Haruto, Koyumi,  Shigeru Wajima.

More on Kamen Rider Wizard on my next post when RAWS and SUBS of Kamen Rider Wizard comes out on the first week of September as well as the promos which are rumored to come out on the first week of August.
